The Alternative Treatment Program is a complimentary program for clients who are already registered in our counselling services. It is an adjunctive treatment along with our counselling services. The program is committed to providing innovative and responsive programming for people suffering from addiction and its effects that looks to treating the whole person through a holistic biopsychosocial spiritual perspective.
These alternative therapies provide our clients and their families alternative ways of coping with their addiction issues or stress related to addictions. The Alternative Treatment Program offers a range of practices including Mindfulness, Acupuncture, and Art Therapy that are delivered in a comprehensive manner that is client-centered and responds to a variety of needs. This allows clients to discover for themselves which of these activities appeal to them, work best with their abilities, and will support them the most in their wellness.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a psycho-educational group. Eight, 2-hour weekly sessions provide participants with the necessary building blocks to learn the skills needed to utilize mindfulness for coping with cravings, relapse prevention, stress, and mood changes.
