Emotion Regulation Group (Virtual)
Thursday, September 16, 2021 –
The Emotion Regulation Group is designed to help individuals experiencing substance use issues who wish to learn skills to manage emotional distress, to live more fully in the present moment, to communicate and to express themselves effectively and to build relationship skills.
Cycle Dates
5 sessions in a cycle and runs on an ongoing basis.
Who Can Attend?
Clients are required to be active clients of agency and see their primary counsellor for a minimum of one (1) session per month
Topics Include:
The group includes the following Emotion Regulation Skills Training (based on skills within Dialectical Behaviour Therapy - DBT):
- Skill #1: Dialectical Thinking & Validation
- Skill #2: Three States of Mind & Observe, Describe and Participate
- Skill #3: Awareness of Emotions
- Skill #4: Distress Tolerance
- Skill #5: Radical Acceptance
