Parent Group

Who We Help

group of hands clasped in unity

The Parent Group is a CLOSED group and must be joined at the beginning of its cycle.

It is available to parents of youth (aged 12-24) who are concerned about their youth’s substance use.

Intake and pre-group orientation interview is required prior to joining this group.

How We Help

We recognize the emotional toll and stress which can come when substance use plays a prominent role in the life of a youth and their family.

The Parent Group is an 8-week group for parents whose youth (aged 12-24) are struggling with substance use concerns. The focus of the group is providing some education around the impact of different substances, and offering an opportunity for parents to self-reflect and share supportive strategies with other parents in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

Each week covers a specific topic or theme, including:

  • An orientation to our Clinical Philosophy
  • Factors that influence substance
  • Communication
  • Parenting Strategies
  • Self-Care
  • YouthSpeak
  • Parents Speak
  • Reflections and Moving Forward
